Hampshire swingers

Hampshire swingers: Southampton, Portsmouth and beyond

Hampshire’s swingers enjoy something city dwellers envy: short distances, friendly towns and the coast on the doorstep.

Swingers in Hampshire are spread across a county of easy journeys. Southampton and Portsmouth have the busy bars and the late nights, Winchester and the market towns are quieter and more discreet, and the north of the county looks as much to Reading and London as it does to the sea. That variety suits most people. Couples who want somewhere lively for a first drink head for the cities, while those who’d rather not bump into anyone they know pick a hotel bar a town or two away.

Southampton and Portsmouth swingers

The two cities sit only twenty miles apart along the M27, and members happily meet between them. Southampton has a younger crowd thanks to its universities and its port, while Portsmouth and Southsea have more of a seaside energy, especially in summer. For a first meet, both waterfronts have hotel bars and restaurants that are easy to find and just as easy to leave. If you live in one city, it’s often worth looking at the other for a little extra discretion.

Swingers clubs and socials in Hampshire

Hampshire has its share of lifestyle socials and private parties, and members from the county also travel to venues in Dorset, Sussex and London. Socials are the easiest first step, a chance to meet people over a drink with no pressure at all. Ask on the site and you’ll usually find someone happy to suggest a night that suits beginners. Look up what to wear, and whether singles are welcome that night, before you book, so the night starts smoothly.

Meeting discreetly in the county

In smaller places like Romsey, Alton or Petersfield, discretion matters more, and most members there would rather meet a few miles from home. Winchester and the country hotels around it make good neutral ground. Keep first meets somewhere with other people about rather than a remote country pub, agree who’s driving before the first round, and make sure everyone gets home safely. A relaxed first evening is the best start to anything that follows.

Around the county

Swinging in Hampshire

After London, Hampshire has more members on the site than anywhere else, which surprises people who assume everything happens in the capital.

It’s a county of short distances. Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester are all within about half an hour of each other, so someone on the far side of the county is rarely a trek.

Southampton

A port city with a big student and young professional crowd, and plenty of bars around Bedford Place and the waterfront at Ocean Village.

Portsmouth and Southsea

Southsea’s seafront and Albert Road are lively at weekends, and Gunwharf Quays has hotel bars for a quieter first drink.

Winchester and the market towns

Winchester, Romsey, Alton and Petersfield: smaller places where discretion matters more, and a drink in the next town over is the norm.

Basingstoke and the north

Basingstoke, Andover and Fleet, with the M3 putting Reading and London within easy reach.

Getting around: the M27 hugs the coast and the M3 climbs north through Winchester to Basingstoke, and the trains linking the three are quick and frequent.

Meeting up: the New Forest is lovely by day but dark and empty at night. Keep first meets in town, somewhere with people about.
